The Roster Submission Guide explains how student organizations at Truman State University can manage and update their membership rosters through TruView. It provides step-by-step instructions for adding and removing members, assigning roles, and submitting the finalized roster each term. Keeping rosters accurate is important because it ensures organizations remain in good standing and that student membership records are correctly maintained
As a student organization, you must understand and communicate your risk management responsibilities. When planning events, consider risks across all five levels and create thorough pre-event plans to set mitigation strategies. Effective planning prevents foreseeable issues and makes many campus events possible. The best time to implement a risk management program is before any incident occurs.
Departmental Student Organizations require partnership with a University office or department to exist. This may include reliance on departmental funding, advising as part of a staff member’s job, or the organization’s existence depending on specific faculty, offices, or majors. Faculty-Led Honor Societies are directly overseen by faculty or staff, with students invited to join but not serving as primary leaders.
Because neither group meets the definition of a Recognized Student Organization (RSO), they are supported by their sponsoring department or faculty—not Union and Involvement Services (U&I).
